Beads in thorax
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:19:08 PM »
Allright, just trying to get a feel for how you guys feel about this. According to Fips Rules is there anything about how far a beadhead can be from the eye.  Can a fly legally have say a wingcase over a single bead ala holy grail style
http://www.fish4flies.com/Nymphs/Caddis_and_Larva_and_Pupa/Holy_Grail_Olive
Also I've seen some zonkers tied where the zonker is pulled over the bead at the head and the gold bead forms the eye of the fly.
Just wondering ... many of the european bugs are tied this way but I know they also cater to everyone over there not just those that compete in Fips style tournaments.

Josh, as far as I can tell and from my experience what you've outlined is completely legal.

Yes, as Dejon mentioned, that is perfectly fine - so long as it doesn't exceed the maximum size of 4 mm in its maximum dimension.
