A simple guideline concerning Questions and Answers of sensitive (secret) information.

This forum exists to share as much information as humanly possible and be a unique source for uncovering competition secrets and progressive fishing techniques.  I encourage all the members of this forum to share all their secrets.  After all, it really isn't a fly or leader setup that wins a competition - it's the angler who wields that tool and information.

That being said, no one should ever feel guilty about not wanting to share information here.  Many competitors, top fishing personalities, and other individuals have a lot at stake: from endless hours spent refining techniques on the stream, to 1000s of backbreaking fly tying sessions developing new patterns.  Some people are even trying to make a living writing books, conducting seminars, guiding, creating instructional DVDs, and the like.

However, without an "open forum", without an "ask whatever you want" sense of community we are stifled to really progress at an accelerated rate.  I have been personally guilty of really waring on some people over the years because I never stop asking questions - many of which are insanely simple and meaningless in retrospect.

To side step these pitfalls we will have a code phrase on this forum.  Instead of just ignoring questions or an individual you can use this phrase.  And when you hear the phrase know it's time to lay off and be patient.  Anyone can use the phrase - it's not limited to competitors or any competition specifically.  You can even use it to protect your home waters or that secret fishing spot.

The phrase:
"I'll tell you after Nationals."

A big thank you to all the TroutLegend members and your continued support and contributions,
Dejon Hamann
