Greys GRXI+
« on: March 10, 2010, 11:30:33 PM »
I picked up this rod the other day from my friend Torrey at Housatonic River Outfitters. I was looking for a streamer rod and didn't want to spend a small fortune. I knew I wanted a 9' 6wt to throw my 200 grain full sinking line and I tried a few but the Greys won me over. The rod had a fast powerfull action and can really toss some line, the 200 grain line is no problem at all for this rod either. The rod had a dark brown/black blank and copper wrappings, the reels seat is an aluminum looking seat but it looks nice. It also balances very nicely and has a nice light feal. The best part about this rod is that for under $200 it is very tough to beat.

Their site doens't have the + yet but they now come in true weights (not 5/6wt)

Very cool.  I was just tying up some streamers wondering when my DC24/200 might arrive in the mail.  There are some lonely winter starved trout out there looking for a nice warm streamer hug.

I feel bad for Temple Fork, because in the same price range as a TFO Pro, you can have a better, nicer looking rod that comes with a case, and it casts very nicely.  The best under $200 rods on the market IMHO.

I wonder if the 10' 7wt would make a nice Lake stick.  I have looked at this rod online and thought is looked like it had potential.  Nice Review!
