Anudder Canuck (JAFO)
« on: May 31, 2010, 06:49:55 PM »
Hi all.

I was introduced to this site through Jeremiah Hamilton at the recent Canadian Nationals held in Roblin, Manitoba.

I currently reside in New Westminster BC and spend most of my fishing time plying the local creeks and waterways for small resident and searun coastal cutthroat. During the summer season (whenever possible) I travel around in search of freestone streams and spring fed creeks in BC, Alta and to a lesser extent WA. Every two years or so I head to the Big Island of Hawaii and spend a few weeks fishing the inshore salt for bones, jacks and pretty well anything else that swims. In addition to writing the odd blog article, I moderate the local FlyBC flytying forum.

I've competed in the last three Canadian Nationals (the last two with "Team Mustang"), and have had the pleasure of fishing alongside Todd Oishi, Arron Varga and I'm sure other board members.

I'm looking forward to contributing.

Great to meet you Aaron. I think you'll find a lot of cutting edge information here and we're looking forward to your contributions.  If you fished at the last 3 CA Nationals then we probably crossed paths back in Tremblant.

Hi Aaron... good to see you here.  We haven't ever had the chance to meet up, but I look forward to that one day - on the water or not.

Hope you had a good experience at the Nationals.  I look forward to your contributions to this forum.

That's a roger. I took a look at your mug on the bios post. I remember you being the only American not from out west. Seems like ages ago. Pity you couldn't make it to Fernie or Roblin. Fernie was a bit disorganized, but the river fishing was excellent--both on and off competition. Here's a shot from Tremblant after that bloody Lac Vennet:

(I'm 4th from the right in front and I think that's you in the back 7 from the right?)

I'm going to do a little write up on the Roblin Nationals for my blog, but in a nutshell: the weather was shite, and the fish were huge.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

Aaron

Welcome Aaron!  :)

Glad to see that you finally found your way over here as well. One of the things that I enjoy most about being a part of this forum is that there is absolutely no need to conceal or tone-down your passion and interest of competitive fly fishing. There is truly a wealth of knowledge here, which can apply to your recreational fly fishing as well... ;D

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Aaron yet, let me just say that he is an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable fly tyer (he ties an absolutely deadly version of the Royal Wulff). Aaron is a great angler and a real gentleman, he has a lot to offer and I am really pleased to have him as a member of this forum as well!

Those are mostly lies, but thanks for the introduction Todd.

It will be nice not having someone ragging on you every time you mention the words "fly fishing" and "competition" in the same sentence. :D
