Hey
« on: November 14, 2009, 09:29:06 AM »
Figured I should join suit as I am new here too.  Gonna keep myself in phantom mode as I know a few of the sorts on here from other forums, some I am active on, others I choose not to be for various reasons.  I am very green with the european techniques, fairly effective at the czech and polish style, am torn with fishing the longer leader methods for various reasons, and am hopefully looking to up my game with these methods and maybe give the long leader stuff a shot.  I understand that competitive angling and these techniques go hand in hand, but just to make things clear have no use for competitive angling, no offense.  Kudos to those of you on here who take part in it, represent the country well, good luck.  I will probably ask questions on problems that I am having from time to time, hopefully they can be answered by the very knowledgeable folks on this forum.  I do find that in the right water types the short line methods are very deadly as long as you follow the principles that are laid out soundly and utilize them properly.

But, like anything, I am not convinced with 100% certainty that they are the only means to nymph as purported by some in my neck of the woods, as I have seen many an "indy" fisherman do as well as, or better than some of the euro-guys on my home waters.  But, this may be totally in part due to lack of proper technique, but who knows.  What I have learned is this, these techniques will make you a better fisherman as you will have a heightened sense of concentration, will also have a better feel for your drifts and will at times be very successful.  I hope my comments aren't offensive to anyone, I just try to look at the big picture.  Nice site, hope to possibly add to it at some point.

"Indy" fishing is certainly fun too! I do it all the time for Steelhead.  My 2 cents: life is way too short to fish the "right" way.  Fish the way you enjoy and enjoy way you fish!

Very true,  I just have found through forums that some forums are bonafide sewers of ego, and others are happy go lucky fun places where good minds go to exchange information.  I have been watching this forum since inception from afar and it appears as though it runs along the lines of happy go lucky with the lack of boastful egocentric proclamations of which we can all do without.  I know parties here from other forums in my neck of the woods, and I commend those of you here who stay to task.  Hopefully I can add some things as I said before.  Thanks for response, and see you in the forums.     ;)

It is nice to have the perspective of someone not wrapped up in the comp world see the benefits of these techniques for personal fishing. Welcome.

Great idea!

One stop shopping. Less forums to browse.

Thanks Rich
