berkley trilene solar collector green line
« on: April 08, 2010, 08:04:53 PM »
Anyone have any berkley trilene solar collector green line in 15lb. test? If so, wondering if I could get some for some sighters? I found some on the web but it was $20.00 with shipping.

I only have it  in 8 lb.   I use it at the bottom of my sighter.    I find it difficult to see as it does not stand out as the red amnesia and gold stren.

Some time ago, I bought some at Gander Mountain for pretty cheap. However, I do agree with Mike that the Gold Stren is easier to see.

Hey John:

I couldn't find the Berkley either (nice link though, Jay) so I bought Ande "Envy Green."  --- They must have greeting card authors name this stuff.

Anyway if you want me to mail you a few yards to check it out, let me know.  I'm happy to do that.  I have a lifetime supply on one spool.

Enjoy the day.

Domenick, how is that compared to the golden stren? I'll take some, is it 14lb. test?

John, actually no, it's 8#.  But I'm still glad to send some to you.  Let me know.

Like the other guys said.  The Hi-Vis Gold Stren is much more visible than this green too.  Only thing that I've found that beats it is Amnesia and a pink flouro that Cabelas used to sell.  Suffix makes a chartreuse that is maybe a bit more visible to my eyes than the Stren.  But after a bunch of experimenting and buying way too much colored mono, I use the Stren for the coil itself.  But my experience in fishing the curly is limited.  I mostly prefer a backing sighter.

Enjoy the day.

John,

If you want me to mail you a few yards of the berkely, let me know - I'll be happy to do so. It is 10lbs. strength. Sorry, I didn't offer that in the first place. It took Domenick's nice manners, to trigger the thought to offer in my thick-head ;D
You can send  me a PM with your address if interested

Jay, thanks anyways I have some in 10 lb., I wanted some in 14lb. or higher for the coil part of the sighter,  because it holds the memory better.

I personally like the combination of the Solar and the Stren gold.  They seem to cover most of the light conditions that I have encountered.    I only have the solar in 10lb.

That's been my favorite too.  I think the Pink Cabelas would add to it... but I've been too lazy to tie some up :)

Looks like they don't even make this in 8# anymore.  Do I have that right?  The Trilene guys must not be euro nymphers.

Enjoy the day.

I think they had it at Gander in store.
