A couple flies
« on: September 07, 2009, 10:20:42 PM »
Here's some oldies but goodies that are in my day to day boxes

Corey's stone...great for those shallow riffles where those hook down patterns just snag too much

cdc emerger

harrop cripple

we have lots of these cased guys down here

and fish a lot of these

or these

If i'm not working (which happens more than I care for) i'm tying so lets bounce some ideas and see what happens!  Looks like we have some great tyers on here!

I don't tie.  Not that I can't or don't on occasion but for the most part I just don't have the time.  I'm always looking for a good helgramite.

Got any of those in that box?

Great ties supafly!  I've been leaning toward simple cdc dries these days too.  I weave a bit from time to time, but honestly most of my patterns are ridiculously simple to tie ala the last cased.  I'm a fast fisher and slow tier:)

What body do you have on that cdc?

I gather that's a Knapek on that Vladi?  I was a big time fan of those for the last 2 years, but I'm not so sure they are the cats meow anymore.  I'm worried the shank is just too thick to really stick little comp. trout.  If we were catching 3+ pounders all day they would be awesome.

Matt- I'm a firm believer that a black woolly bugger is about the best helgrammite immitation one can use!

FFPa- Corey's stone is one great stonefly, its tough to beat a pats rubber legs but for shallow riffles you can't beat the hook up style.  Use .030 to help get it down

Dejon- The body on the emerger is a stripped hackle quill, they make great bodies just not that durable.  The woven nymph is on a knapek.  I haven't had any problems with the knapeks being too large, now partridge on the other hand.

Supa...what's the dubbing blend on that last cased caddis?  Reminds me a little of the dubbing I saw on the back of a fly that did very well this past weekend.

Sure WV,
    Tell us all now. LOL.

It was a great experience and a great time meeting all of you folks. We got to do it again.
Even if it is in an informal setting.
Later,
Tim
